FAQs
What information should be provided with when requesting a quote?
Before quoting a plastic injection project, we suggest you to providing with:
- Parts Drawing: including 2D and 3D drawing which can let us evaluating the project in detail according to the parts' dimension, size, shape and features.
- Plastic Material: material chosen depending on different type of parts, material properties, glass fiber/mineral fiber additives or weather and chemical resistance these factors will be the key points to choose material.
- Mold Steel: mold steel will influences mold life-cycle. High-intensity and hardened steel can achieve much more production volumes.
- Monthly/Annually Demand: quantity will determine what kind steel should be chose. Products that require mass production must use more durable steel; and demand will also determine the number of mold cavities and the unit price of the finished product.
- Package: parts that focus on appearance need to be placed onto trays, and use EPE foam sheet, film or buffering to protect the finished parts from damage during production and transportation. If you have a designated package idea, you can propose it in advance, or we can arrange an appropriate package for you.
What Plastic material is applicable to my project?
Plastic resin can be simply divided into two categories: Engineering Plastic (Nylon, PC, ABS, PC/ABS, PMMA) and Commodity Plastic (PE, PP, PS and PVC). There are different types and grades of these materials. When choosing materials, we would consider of the material characteristics corresponding to the parts' applications, such as part tensile, impact resistance, mechanical features, and chemical and environmental facts to choose the material.
How should i determine the steel for plastic mold?
- Wear Resistance: If you need a mold that is wear-resistant, consider using hardened tool steel. It will increase your upfront tooling costs but reduce long-term maintenance costs.
- Standard Tool Steel: For plastics without abrasive additives (like glass fibers) or corrosive ingredients, P-20 steel is common. It balances cost and performance.
- High-Quality Option: STAVAX is excellent for custom injection molding. It offers corrosion resistance and durability

What is the mold development workflow?
The development flow of plastic injection mold and metal stamping tooling includes multiple steps from product designing, process discussing, mold designing, mold manufacturing, mold trial, trial run, mass production, dimension measurement, quality controlling to mass production mold maintenance.

How long does it take to complete a mold development?
Every project is unique; therefore, we need different time to manufacture a mold. The lead time of a mold will depend on its complexity. It might be 4 weeks to 6 weeks or perhaps longer.
Do you provide with extended post processing?
YES! TSC provides post-processing and surface treatment services for metal stamping and plastic parts, including CNC milling, turning, hot-melt, ultrasonic, laser engraving, surface painting, pad printing, tapping and other post-processing and surface treatment processes.
